Neal M. Brown

Neal Brown is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Martindale-Hubbell AV-rated trial attorney. He is the founding partner of Waranch & Brown and devoted his career to defending hospitals and health care providers in medical malpractice and licensure issues.

Beginning in 1985, Mr. Brown litigated serious medical malpractice and high-exposure liability claims, including multiple birth injury claims. He has tried to verdict over 75 jury trials across the state and argued appellate cases at all levels of the Maryland and Federal courts. In addition, Mr. Brown defended numerous physicians in administrative and civil proceedings involving licensure, hospital and managed care privilege matters. Mr. Brown also acted as a Fair Hearing Officer for hospital disciplinary and license restriction matters.

Prior to founding Waranch & Brown, Mr. Brown served as a law clerk for Chief Judge Edward S. Northrop in the U.S. District Court of Maryland. He later became a partner at the age of 32 in the litigation department of a 200-person Baltimore law firm.

After receiving his B.A. with honors from Towson University in 1981, Mr. Brown graduated magna cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1984.

Mr. Brown is an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and was honored as a medical malpractice defense “Super Lawyer” every year from 2008 through 2024.

Mr. Brown retired from the active practice of law on December 31, 2024.
