
Kaitlan M. Skrainar is a trial attorney and partner at Waranch & Brown, LLC. Ms. Skrainar has developed an extensive skill set litigating civil cases involving intricate legal and medical complexities. Her practice primarily focuses on the defense of health care providers against medical malpractice and tort claims.
With licenses to practice in both Maryland and Washington, D.C., Ms. Skrainar has successfully litigated and tried cases in the District and Circuit Courts of Maryland, the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, and Federal Court. She has also been selected as a “Rising Star” by Maryland Super Lawyers every year since 2020.
Ms. Skrainar began her academic journey at the University of Delaware where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in biological sciences, accompanied by a minor in psychology. She obtained her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the prestigious Heuisler Honor Society.
During her tenure at law school, Ms. Skrainar served as the Executive Editor of Law Review and as a member of the Brand Names Moot Court Team. Additionally, she served as a Rule 16 Student Attorney in the Community Development Clinic, offering nonlitigation legal services to regional nonprofit organizations and counseling clients on various business law and nonprofit matters. Following law school, Ms. Skrainar served as the Law Clerk for the Honorable Judith C. Ensor in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County.
Ms. Skrainar is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the D.C. Bar Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association, the Maryland Defense Counsel, and the MD-DC Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
Ms. Skrainar has authored and co-authored several legal articles, including Intervening/Superseding Cause of Plaintiff’s Injury – A Viable Approach to Defending Medical Malpractice Cases at Trial?, which was published in The Defense Line in 2018.
