Kaitlan M. Skrainar is a trial attorney and partner at Waranch & Brown, LLC. Ms. Skrainar has extensive experience litigating civil matters involving complex legal and medical issues. Her practice is primarily dedicated to defending physicians, hospitals, health systems, and other health care providers in claims alleging medical malpractice. She also represents health care professionals in licensing and disciplinary matters before state medical and nursing boards, providing strategic counsel throughout investigations and administrative proceedings.
With licenses to practice in both Maryland and Washington, D.C., Ms. Skrainar has successfully litigated and tried cases in the District and Circuit Courts of Maryland, the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, and Federal Court. She has been selected as a “Rising Star” by Maryland Super Lawyers every year since 2020. Ms. Skrainar has also co-authored several articles for legal publication and given professional lectures for attorneys, health care risk managers, and health care providers.
Ms. Skrainar earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in biological sciences, accompanied by a minor in psychology, from the University of Delaware. She went on to obtain her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the prestigious Heuisler Honor Society. During her tenure at law school, Ms. Skrainar served as the Executive Editor of Law Review and as a member of the Brand Names Moot Court Team.
Additionally, Ms. Skrainar served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Alexander Wright, Jr., in the Appellate Court of Maryland, and for the Honorable Marvin J. Garbis, in the United States District Court of Maryland. Following law school, Ms. Skrainar served as the Law Clerk for the Honorable Judith C. Ensor in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County.
Ms. Skrainar is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the D.C. Bar Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association, the Maryland Defense Counsel, and the Mid-Atlantic Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
